DESCRIPTION:Guardianship is the legal process where the Court grants authority to an individual to make decisions for a loved one, in this case a loved one with special needs. This is required by law once an individual turns 18 and is unable to make decisions for themselves in a safe manner. This presentation is for families who are in the process of having their children with special needs transition into adulthood. Service providers who care for individuals with unique abilities during their transition into adulthood would also benefit from the information provided.
